Noticing

Earlier this year I sanded and rasped the back door so I could open it easily. I had left it closed for many years, but needed to open it so I could replace the washing machine. Since then I’ve been spending more time in the back yard, paying attention to small things like deer poop and flowers.

These little flowers popped up on some spindly weeds after we finally had some rain last week. I’d never noticed the flowers before. While I was out a couple aphids flew into my face, the first indication of coming winter. Aphids always mark the last warm day.

The relief of being spared from Farinacci’s Polymarket Fire adds more joy to these unburned bits of life.
