Currently we have a werewolfpack of California-based tech tyrants deeply involved in politics. Elon became semi-official Copresident for a while until Trump got bored with him as psychopaths do. The others are household names, massively influential in the Dow, which is another name for the government.
Did this happen before? It did happen before with automobiles. Many of the top car execs were appointed to cabinet positions or government advisory boards. Romney went into elected politics, succeeded as Michigan governor through the same mix of caution and foresight he had used at AMC. Then he tried for president, and Deepstate knocked him out when he made the FATAL ERROR of wanting peace. No president is allowed to stay out of war.
But what about the tech world? Telephones and telegraphs were a big part of the economy for 20 years before carriages got motors. Henry Ford was a manager at Detroit Edison when he started screwing around with buggies.
When tech was centered in New Jersey and upstate New York, tech CEOs were much quieter than car CEOs. Edison was a household name, but the later founders and heads avoided public view. Nobody knew who headed Zenith or Motorola or Philco, all still active in the minicomputer era.
ONE BIG EXCEPTION. Ross Perot founded the first cloud. EDS provided servers and computation to businesses. Ross was loud and political like Elon. He ran for president in 1992 and got close to the target despite massive counterforces.
Elon vs Ross is a perfect controlled experiment. Perot hated offshoring. His passionate agenda was bringing back industry so American men could have a decent life.
Elon and the other California werewolves LOVE offshoring, HATE products and profits, HATE all useful work. They’ve taken offshoring to the next level, moving all white-collar work into their cloud.
