Seen on Reddit, a former Minuteman missile operator has built a web resource to listen and track the network of messages going to missile sites. The messages are coded but the transmissions are openly audible on SHORTWAVE, 11175 KHz. There’s nothing secret about the network itself, public info but not generally known.
I wouldn’t have been surprised by this before the web; lots of clandestine stuff was happening on shortwave. Even then, if I had thought about the question I would have presumed a private wire for security and reliability. Western Union maintained a separate data web for government and military use.
Now it breaks a vastly bigger presumption.
DARPA justified the internet PRECISELY to carry messages relating to nuclear weapons and emergency operations.
In other words, the web was ONLY built for surveilling us and Hundred Flowers psyops, NEVER intended or used for the officially stated purpose.
