I’ve often highlighted the uniqueness of Enid. It has always produced more creative and unusually sane people than you’d expect from an isolated agricultural and industrial city of 50k population.
Here’s another example. Enid Buzz received an old Kodak snapshot from one of its readers, who was on the ship when Apollo 11 was successfully brought in. It’s a dramatic moment captured by a non-journalist, and it’s a picture that hasn’t been seen online before.
As commenters joined in, it turns out that two other Enidites were ALSO involved in that same moment and ALSO had pictures. The son of one of those men mentioned:
He stood guard over it for a short while. He was also there when Ann Margaret performed for the men. I think he liked Ann Margaret more than the astronauts.
