The D party here in Wash is proposing mandatory “voting”, like Australia. I’m not sure what they’re trying to accomplish. No state has ever done this, and it’s a safe bet that some “court” will eventually block it, which won’t make any difference and won’t be obeyed. Government does what it wants.
Do they think this will bring out more D “voters”? Not likely. “Voting” is already as easy as possible, with permanent registration and mail ballots. The idiots who still delusionally believe that “voting” matters are already “voting”, and the sane people will simply submit blank ballots, or write in weird names as I always do.
Are they trying to get a response from the state Repooflicans? If so, it’s not working. The Repoofs haven’t sent any email spam on the subject, because it’s not related to license tag fees. The state Repoofs are only interested in license tag fees. That’s the only issue in the universe. They didn’t protest in 2014 when Demon Inslee burned down the state. They didn’t protest in 2020 when Demon Inslee imprisoned and strangled and murdered the state. Genocide and arson and torture are just fine with the Repoofs, because genocide and arson and torture don’t raise license tag fees.
Well then, are the Ds hoping to get an outraged response from Repoofs elsewhere, who are still obsessing about “stolen votes”? Maybe, but I don’t see how the outraged response would matter. Demon Inslee will still continue murdering the state until he ceases breathing.

Calibration: Later on Saturday the Repoofs actually did send an email about this “voting” thing, and amazingly it didn’t mention taxes or fees at all. Maybe they’re learning, but it’s too late. They had the chance to make a real difference by firmly supporting Culp for governor. They refused to help him. Fuck them.
