AI is like …. 2

Last month I observed that AI sometimes resembles the semi-dreams that pop up just before full sleep. Total nonsense in a plausible atmosphere.

Fresh example from noon nap today.

I was sitting in an aluminum folding chair on a beach. I was busy with mass-production piecework, wrapping little plastic objects in woolen socks so they could be sold as Sox-Blox.

Of course this was just a normal routine, something I do every day, and I needed to get back to work making Sox-Blox after the nap.

Checking Google again… This time the dream invented something new. Sox-Blox doesn’t exist.

Later: I’ve figured out most of the recent thoughts that went together to form this semi-dream. The beach has no obvious referent. I don’t like beaches and never think about beaches. The overall theme of MAKING STUFF is important. From 2011 to 2019, I was establishing a more analog life, spending time on electronics and acoustical experiments. The 2020 torture chamber knocked out my gumption, so I stuck with the digital world where “making” is easier. Lately I’ve been missing the handmade parts, trying to think of a way to dig back into those pursuits.
