The defeat of Zombie Lightfoot in Chicago seems to have caught the attention of D politicians. They totally ignored crime for decades, casting Law And Order as a Repooflican conspiracy theory.
Biden has taken an unusual step, intended to send a message to all mayors. He overturned a Defunding law passed by the DC city government. Presidents have a veto power over the actions of DC as a city, but I don’t think any president has used this power before.
The message is especially strong because Biden has a unique connection to the Black NGOs and political machines of big cities. He won the primaries and caucuses because those NGOs threw their weight on his side. Now he’s telling them to pay attention to the plight of their own Black citizens, who are the main victims as well as the main perpetrators of street crime.
