Four Las Vegas men have been accused of illicitly winning more than $200,000 in a ‘dice sliding’ scheme at a craps table on the Las Vegas strip.
Antcharaporn Kamonlert, Hau Duc Ngo, Max Edward Rappoport, and Oscar Ovidio Rodriguez Alvarado are charged in the case, which stems from an alleged scam at The Cosmopolitan casino.
Thai + Vietnamese + Jewish + Hispanic = Cosmopolitan!
I hope Marks and Cordova leverage this news item into another podcast about gambling and cheating. I learned a lot from their previous efforts. They discuss sliding in this clip at 8:00.
Gambling is NOT in my genes, so everything is new and interesting.

Rambling on gambling: All humans have some tendency to gamble. It’s hugely dominant in Orientals, including the old American tribes who are closely related to Chinese. Gambling goes along with a winner-take-all approach to status, also dominant in China. Cold tribes (Slavs, Krauts, Celts) are much less inclined to gamble and less inclined toward extreme status scales. We falsely call this tendency “socialism”. It’s not an ideology, it’s just a preference for relatively flat status.
Even more rambly: The contrast between those two groups of tribes works the other way with alcohol. The gambling tribes can’t handle alcohol, and the non-gambling tribes can’t do without alcohol. Reciprocal addictions. Same genes?
