Continuing thoughts on the universal dividers.
Rulers generate divides to keep the people weak and distracted so every bad event can be symmetrically scapegoated. R blames D, D blames R, nobody blames the permanent Deepstate.
A few of the side-makers are controlled by Deepstate, especially the rioters and protesters. A proper riot needs government support and permission, as we saw blatantly in 2020 with mayors out front leading the looters.
BUT: Most side-makers are opportunists, seeing a chance to make money and gain personal power by “leading” one fake side. These opportunists can be called Controlled Opposition by the opportunists on the other side, but most are not receiving any actual money from Deepstate.
This also applies to the media. We know from long experience that Deepstate DOES push one side, providing “access” for the favored media. But it doesn’t need to push very hard. Media always know that dividing is profitable.
The Fairness Doctrine damped down some of this profit by PROHIBITING division along partisan lines in radio and TV. Media and Deepstate still found new ways to divide. In the ’50s it was Commies vs Patriots. Later it was Hippies vs Patriots. Then it was IslamicTerrorists vs Patriots. Later, for Room 101 variety, this pattern was flipped. Now it’s Patriots (HORRIBLE!) vs Hippies (WONDERFUL!)
These non-party divisions are less effective and less profitable because they’re not half/half. A half/half division is the most effective way to maintain Symmetrical Scapegoating. Non-party divides create one very small or nonexistent side who can be blamed for everything, versus the great mass of “correct” people. The nonexistent side can’t make money by blaming the mass of “correct” people because it doesn’t exist.

Meanwhile, there’s no division at all within the circles of power. In academia and NGOs and bureaucracies, all forces move in harmonious unison to enrich the rich and ruin the poor. Parkinson guarantees this harmony in bureaucracies. Tenure and Peer Review and Grants guarantee harmony in academia. At this level the money is all on one side, with no opportunists profiting from opposition.

Later: This poll by DailyMail shows the power of Symmetry. Are you better off under Biden? Most categories by age and sex and education show a slight majority for worse. “Independents” agree with most categories. “Repooflicans” say 100% worse off, “Democrats” say 100% better off. Those 100% groups are easy marks for moneygrabbers and influencegrabbers. Betting on them is a sure thing.
How would I answer? The question is personal, not general. Personally I’m better off now because the muzzles are not mandated now. One-issue voter, one-issue thinker. The mandates started while Trump was in power. The mandates went away (for the moment) while Biden is in power. Did this happen because Biden is in power? We’ll never know, but it’s clear that state and federal bureaucrats felt less need to ruin Trump after their party was “elected”. The sole purpose of the mandates was to ruin Incorrect leaders, Trump and Boris and Jiang. Mission accomplished.
