FDR gave us the official Fairness Doctrine for R vs D partisanship, which also applied to other denominational teams like churches. Broadcasters had to take both sides, which meant in practice that they took NO SIDE. The result was much less national division along party lines.
Lately I’ve been feeling generally non-confident and fearful, which expresses itself through my genes as hypochondria. A dream tonight showed part of the problem. An ‘advisor’ type was counseling me to maximize the fear, and I was trying to hold off against him. It wasn’t an easy fight, and the dream ended inconclusively.
Part of our problem is that ALL available sources, D and R and “independent”, are SOLELY advising fear and panic. This is the natural function of media.
The opponents of the “virus” include a few general pro-confidence types, but they have lost the clickbattle and faded out of public view.
The purpose of the broadcast Fairness Doctrine was specifically to protect news broadcasts from the clickbattle. It was clear at the start of radio that reality has no commercial value, so it needed a federal “floor” in the same way that farmers needed a federal “floor”.
The RFK panic generators have won, creating the SAME LEVEL of witchcraft panic that the 2020 “virus” monsters did. Only the witch is different. The 2020 official monsters were directing our panic against all viruses and microbes, not just “the” “virus”, and the 2023 fake “anti-official” media is targeting our panic against all chemicals, not just “the” “vax”.

FDR gave a PERSONAL voice to the non-panic side, expressed simply as
Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself.
His fireside chats always took the side of non-panic as well, and media followed suit. Unfortunately he didn’t write this form of Fairness into the FCC regulations, so it didn’t last beyond his personal influence.
