Substack is “leaning into politics” by hiring a political coordinator who worked at CNN and WaPo. Not auspicious.
One basic rule runs deeper than all the current idiocies and monstrosities. Big corporations MUST conform to the whims of the ruler if they want to function and grow even bigger. Big media needs lawyers, loans and licenses, and all of those prerequisites are strictly controlled by Deepstate.
Corporations backed by VC or LBO types are even more conformist, because the market uses DEBT to buy corporations. Peter Thiel, the transhumanist Young Blood vampire, is one of Substack’s backers.
The announcement says that Substack is trying to steer away from the standard trivial partisan Pro Wrestling crap, but the comments below the announcement show that the steering hasn’t departed from the traffic lane yet. Indistinguishable from a comment chain in Twitter. Same set of partisan trolls and troublemakers.
If product A and product B have the same purchasers, it’s a good sign that product A and product B aren’t qualitatively different.
