Why so innocent?

Younger activists are more innocent and shockable than we were in the ’60s. Even though we had MUCH less information available, we talked and rumored and gossiped among ourselves and figured out who was a nark or a spy. We understood Agents Provocateurs, we knew who was an Agent, and we tried to warn each other quietly.

Even though non-mainstream info is VASTLY more available now, the info doesn’t make any difference.

Nearly all supposed “independent” media or commentators quickly show their true colors and slide neatly into DNC or RNC slots. I’m not surprised, but younger media-watchers simply don’t see it and won’t be persuaded.

I’m not sure what caused this change. Maybe it’s the total dependence on virtual media instead of innately trustworthy face-to-face gossip. Virtual media is always algorithmed, so the correct warnings get memoryholed or caked with mud. Maybe it’s just the sheer quantity. When millions of info items are floating around, nobody can filter and sort it adequately.

Metametanote: I wanted to provide a link for millions of items floating around, aka ‘flooding the zone’. Google provides many definitions of the term, but EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE DEFINITIONS attributes the practice solely to Repooflicans and Trump.

In fact everyone, including ordinary commercial PR, uses the technique.

In other words, any attempt to find info on ‘flooding the zone’ dives into a zone flooded with mud-caked one-sided info. So the above two choices are simultaneous, not alternatives!
