Suddenly Assange is completely free after 15 years of Kafka. I lost interest in Assange a long time ago; he seemed to be playing a game that didn’t make sense for a man who wanted to stay free.
The prosecution is unquestionably and infinitely evil, but I’m not sure about the other side. Assange wasn’t taking any of the steps that normally lead to a shorter sentence or easier treatment. Now he has finally made a guilty plea, which opened the way to a sentence of ‘time served’, but before the ‘time served’ he spent many years in the Ecuador embassy, under conditions that were much less humane than a federal prison. If he was stubbornly trying to prove a theoretical point, he’s lost the point now anyway.
Pay the Two Dollars is always the best strategy. Playing theory games is hugely expensive and utterly useless. You WILL lose, and the devils WILL NOT regret their actions or change their ways or learn a lesson. Just don’t be there.
Nevertheless, the sudden event deserves an explanation. I’m tempted to associate it with the Saudi departure from the Bush house and today’s release of former “conspiracy” truths about Saudi.
The message from Assange’s family implies that he’s free to talk and will be talking, releasing more truth to the world.
When several related blackmail files are opened all at once, without obvious external motives, it means somebody has died or lost power. Saudi felt able to leave, and the Brits felt free to release Assange. Has another dynasty pushed out the Bush dynasty? Or is the shift at a much deeper level? Did Epstein really die this time? We’ll never know, but it’s worth listening for the next file.
