From a Duane Jones viewpoint politics is back to 2008. Before Biden was kicked out, both sides were running defective products. They had to rely on cult behavior to get any buyers at all.

The first rule of honest business and honest politics is to start with a product that people feel they can use. If the product proves to be satisfactory after sampling, customers will be rationally loyal, not cultish.

Now the D side has a usable product for its own customers. Harris is lively, comprehensible and comparatively young. She has been sampled for 4 years. She satisfies the needs of most D customers, including quite a few independents who are tired of Wall Street and the Men Of Monopoly.

Trump is a DANGEROUS product, not just defective. He’s a car that asphyxiates its passengers every time it runs. His advertising in 2016 was criminally false. He claimed to oppose the Men Of Monopoly, and then loyally served them. Trump infinitely enriched Wall Street. He killed and ASPHYXIATED peasants to satisfy Wall Street’s infinite bloodthirst.

In 2008 Obama was a fairly decent product for D customers and many independents. He blew his appeal for me when he embraced Bush’s TARP, but most people didn’t notice. McCain was defective. He was a warmonger and obvious friend of Monopoly, and he was old and worn out. He wasn’t DANGEROUS like Trump, but most people felt that Obama was capable of driving in the correct direction while McCain wasn’t.
