Picking up WWV for New Year pulled me back into shortwave, at least for a while. (I have real work to do right now, and I don’t have enough spare gumption to delve into another sideline.)
I’m reminded again of the fact that shortwave is a vacant resource. Broadcasters and commercial communication services have moved WAY uphill. Uphill always means higher status.
All the popular and rich folks are trying for exponential increase in frequency. 3G, 4G, 5G, on up. More, more, more. Higher frequency means wider bandwidth and more energy, thus more capacity to do harm. Basic physics.
Why aren’t the Men Of Monopoly trying to claim this huge expanse of partly vacant and unpopular spectrum territory? Where’s the LBO? Where’s the “climate” threat, the denied insurance claims, the unaffordable rent forcing the remaining hams and SW broadcasters out?
The key is in the question. Monopolizers don’t want territory that’s already vacant and UNPOPULAR.
The fun part is FORCING people to sell cheap, by LBOs or banking crises or stock crashes or “climate” or “virus” or riots or AI.
Tech tyrants and stock traders are THIEVES. Natural-born criminals.
Honest creators, by definition, pick up ideas or visions or solutions that AREN’T currently occupied or popular.
A good writer tries to say things that aren’t already being said.
A thief of writing (Altman) steals text that is currently monetized.
A good inventor tries to find solutions that aren’t being applied.
A patent troll grabs up patents that ARE being used, so he can steal the rent.
A painter tries to form images that nobody else is forming.
Altman steals images that ARE copyrighted and monetized so he can steal the rent.
A good business owner tries to make or sell in ways that aren’t currently prestigious, in order to provide products or services for people who can’t afford or don’t enjoy being popular. (See George Romney.)
A monopolizer and LBO artist finds products and services that ARE popular and manipulates them toward bankruptcy so he can grab up the factory or assets. (See Mitt Romney.)
HONEST MEN NEED TO MAKE THINGS.
CRIMINALS NEED TO RUIN AND STEAL THINGS.
Civilization tries to open more paths for honest skills of all sorts. The way to open paths is to RESTRAIN the monopolizers. You don’t open paths by creating abstract “rights”. Every abstract “right” is specifically designed to aid criminals and ruin honest people.
An orderly system, whether it’s called Sharia or Soviet or FDR, leaves little room for tyrants and monopolizers.
