A couple months ago I was disgusted when Safeway stores turned into prison-like experiences. In a lunatic “city” like Spokane they have no choice. Without the locked doors and turnstiles, the criminals and bums will grab everything. I wrote:

The demonic “government” of the “city” of “Spokane” steadfastly refuses to rehabilitate addicts or stop the sale of drugs or put criminals in jail. “Spokane” is fanatically devoted to the fuckhead meaning of “justice”.
Because criminals are not in prison, stores have to imprison good people.
You have to go through a one-way gate on the way in, and another one-way gate on the way out, with bollards and ropes blocking the other paths. When I first encountered it last week I got confused and triggered an alarm. Today I knew what to expect, but it’s still an atrocious experience.

Today I noticed this Reddit item about a similar policy in Frisco. You’d expect SF Reddit types to take the side of the shoplifter. Redditors are NOT ultra-right-wing MAGAtard Christian Nationalists, to put it extremely mildly. But even the cool progressives have had it with fucking urbanist “governments”. They sound just like me!

If an entire city chooses to allow people to steal from stores, it should surprise no thinking person that all of those stores will leave or close.
Good. I’ve lost tolerance for our tolerance of rampant shoplifting that has led to a major inconvenience for those of us that follow the rules. It jacks up prices and closes places down. It’s hard to be sympathetic when she acts like a victim even when caught red handed.

Will the fucking urbanists realize they’ve lost ALL the people who should have been on their side? The fucking urbanists lost me years ago when they installed curb bumpouts that make life dangerous for walkers and bikers. I tried to explain this to an urbanist online, complete with an actual walkers-eye picture of the place, and he wouldn’t listen.
Apparently I’m not progressive enough. I’m a fervent fan of the New Deal, I live in a very small house, walk and use buses, don’t own a car, don’t eat meat. Obviously this doesn’t qualify me for support from the fucking urbanists.
Fuck them. Or as Tyndale would say, I bade them farewell for our two lives and a day longer.
