What I want from a real newspaper is features, not articles. Since I subscribed to the real Spokesman-Review last month, it’s been coming through in fine form.
Today’s issue has a lighthearted locally written feature on a WEIRDASS local bird. It’s the Common Poorwill (apparently too poor to afford a whip). Unlike the romantic-sounding name, it’s a toad with wings. Looks like a toad, lives like a toad, has a huge mouth that sucks in bugs like a toad. I haven’t seen one or definitely heard its call, but now I’m going to start listening and looking.
