Fire-prone cities should have permanent shelters.

In the cold war every city had a permanent fallout shelter in a civic building, stocked with fuel, generator, canned water, and nonperishable food. Since nuclear attacks were a Deepstate myth, the shelters were never used, but the government kept them ready.

Those shelters also served as tornado shelters in Oklahoma and Kansas where tornados are NOT a myth.

Serious fires in the west are like tornados in Oklahoma, occurring about every ten years in one city. If shelters were worth the expense for a myth, they should be worth the expense for a reality.

In this year’s big fire the fighters were ready but the city wasn’t. The emergency authorities kept expanding the evacuation zones. It looked like my area was next, so I packed a bag and started walking toward the bus stop, hoping to catch a bus toward downtown. There were no announced shelters at that point. I took a bus to downtown, talked with the very helpful desk lady at the bus plaza. She didn’t know any shelters, so I took the same bus back to my area, thinking the nearby library branch would be a potential. The library was closed, so I just went to the familiar Safeway, bought water, and sat to rest. Chatted with other oldsters who were doing the same thing, all equally confused. They had cellphones and I didn’t, but they weren’t getting better info from the cellphones. Finally I just walked downhill to my house and found BLESSEDLY that everything is fine. This area was never included in the evacs, though it’s close. The fire grew northward and this area is to the east.

Later I heard that the downtown convention center was opened as a shelter. That’s the appropriate type of place, but NOBODY KNEW WHERE TO GO until lots of people were wandering the roads aimlessly.

Tacking on later developments and an impression. The next day a Superstar team arrived from California to take charge of our allegedly inadequate locals. The Superstar team had fought last year’s Palisades fire with thousands of structures lost. They are going to improve the performance of the local folks with hundreds of structures lost. What’s wrong with this picture? Why do we want to let WORSE performers boss us around?

Factually, the Superstars haven’t made anything visible happen. The fires are slowing down because of previous massive heroic efforts, and also because the wind stopped and the temperature dropped. Per the paper, the 900 Superstars are “shadowing” the locals to learn from them. IS THIS THE RIGHT TIME TO CLUTTER UP A RESPONSE BY DRAGGING AROUND “SHADOWS” WHO NEED TO BE BROUGHT UP TO SPEED ON LOCAL CONDITIONS?

It feels way too much like 2020 when Demon Inslee slavishly followed the lead of Superstar Demon Newsom.

The Hollywood influencers will also help us avoid the root cause of recent increased fires. In a dry place summer fires are inevitable. We’ll always have the usual causes: lightning, railroad sparks, rural idiots burning slash piles, urban idiots having a barbecue. In recent years the total takeover by homeless camps has multiplied fire starts by 5. Homeless camps have campfires, and they also include criminals and crazies who enjoy seeing things burn. Most of the BIG fires in recent years were specifically from homeless arsonists. Prosecuting criminals is unthinkably horrible to the local “authorities”, and these Hollywood influencers will reinforce our need to blame CLIMATE EMERGENCY.

I will come back and refute this impression if I see evidence of real improvement.

Besides the active fire, Tom Stokesberry, spokesperson for the California Incident Management Team 7, said a “tremendous amount of hazardous materials,” such as building materials, lithium batteries and solar panels, burned in the fire and contaminated the soil and air.

This will destroy whatever teensy bit of trust the people might still retain, and will make the next warning MUCH HARDER to enforce. And that’s the fucking purpose. Permanent total war is the goal of governments and tech demons. Universal chaos, all fighting all, justifying vast surveillance and armies everywhere.
