Given activities in recent years, the chance of criminal arson for Saturday’s fire was somewhere between 100.00000% and 100.00000%. Now the bet is verified.
Via Spokesman, Aaron Forrest Farinacci has been arrested for causing the Old Trails fire that destroyed 700 structures. He lived in the Catholic Criminalities homeless apts, which is (only coincidentally) the geographical center of nearly all arson activity. He had been “contacted before for arson-related behavior”** and previously served 15 years for murder in Arizona. Obviously a fine upstanding citizen.
Will he be held or released? I’d bet on release.
FOR THE TRILLIONTH TIME, THE SOLUTION IS SIMPLE. KEEP CRIMINALS IN JAIL FOR LIFE.
Before 1980 we knew the difference between criminals and normal people, and we did keep criminals in jail or executed them. We also knew the difference between batshit crazies and professional criminals, and we kept the batshit crazies in a different kind of jail for life. Now we let the professionals loose, and we let the batshit crazies run corporations and cities and states and countries.

** More details: Last summer he was seen doing suspicious things near a fire in the same area. There wasn’t much wind then so the fire was knocked down fast. He was questioned but not arrested. WHAT’S WRONG WITH THESE “AUTHORITIES”? HAVE THEY LEARNED ANYTHING YET? We’ll see.
8/6: They’re holding him for sure. Per details of the initial hearing, he’s a classic crazy Firebug, a man whose sole joy and purpose in life is setting fires. He planned weather and location carefully to insure maximum damage. In sane eras such people were kept in institutions for life.

Last year’s fire didn’t get far. This year’s fire moved fast through the river canyon, destroying whole neighborhoods.
Footnote for clarity: Three major fires started on Saturday. I’m talking here about the Old Trails fire. The Fairview fire near Mead appears to have started at a recycling facility, not a homeless area. The Autumn Lane fire near Suncrest was in the type of area favored by homeless camps but not within the Catholic Criminalities orbit. Its cause hasn’t been announced yet.
