Y beaches and mountains?

Just figured something out.

The COOL people only like mountains and oceans. When COOL people show pictures of places, it’s always grand vistas of rocks or blank beach and ocean. I’ve never understood why these things are interesting. There’s nothing to see, no plants or animals or houses or creeks. Beach is plain white, ocean is plain blue, rocks are plain gray. You might as well show a blank canvas like idiotic abstract “art”.

I’m reading a new book about the history of Russia, verifying some of my presuppositions about Natural Law and adding a bunch of stuff I didn’t know before. Russia is permanently divided between the land-facing peasants following Natural Law, versus the ocean-facing aristocrats who need to imitate Germany. Moscow was the capital of land-facing agriculture and business, Petersburg was the capital of Germany-facing nobility.

Our geography is different but we have the same divide. Aristocrats idolize abstract theoretical Germany except during the brief intervals when they’re having a lovers spat with Germany. Peasants face the land and aren’t interested in abstractions or theories.

Conclusion: Aristocrats face the ocean and mountains BECAUSE those places don’t contain dull non-abstract details like plants and animals and peasants.
