Why didn’t we see these?

Recently my social media feed has presented some GOOD art by Van Gogh. Massively surprising. I’d never seen these pictures before. In school and media we were force-fed the OFFICIAL INTERPRETATIONS of his blotchy smears. I couldn’t understand the interpretations then, and I still don’t know why blotchy smears should count as art.

In fact he made some GOOD pictures, clearly representing real occupations and real mechanisms. In other words, he was able to think like an engineer.

Carpentry and laundry.

Harvesting.

The mechanism of a drawbridge.

Studying these pictures shows us how people did their jobs.

He also made some precise anatomical pictures of moths and crabs and such.

If the “humanities” want to survive and prosper, maybe they could try appealing to uncool people. They won’t, of course.
