The downfall of Don Lemon at CNN is an extremely small event, mainly interesting to the few people who still watch cable soap operas.
Maybe it indicates a real change in the management of CNN, a genuine retrenchment from all-Trump all the time. Lemon mastered the idiotic art of turning everything into a slam against Trump. Anything goes if it smashes Repooflicans.
Now he finds that “anything goes” is gone. The triggering comment was remarkably stupid in every possible way.
Some female Repooflican in Congress said that Biden is “past his prime”, which is not an insult, just a fact. He’s 80 and clearly senile.
Lemon said “Nyah Nyah, you’re also past your prime.” The cohosts looked askance and gave him a chance to back away, but he dug deeper and deeper, saying that women are in their prime at 25, not 50, and inviting viewers to google it.
First, all wisdom agrees that in your prime means 40 to 60 for both men and women. Even our innate neurological schedule agrees. 40 to 60 is when you’re done with training and screwing around, the kids are out of the house, and you’re settled into your character and work. If you’re meant to accomplish something, you’ll do it in these years.
Second, Krystal points out that CNN’s own viewers are Democrat womxns around age 70. That’s the median, not the max.
Cult leaders like Jordan Peterson say this sort of thing to unpopular young men. Nobody with any sense would say this sort of thing to high-status old womxns. Especially when they’re your only customers.
