Old ads work

I don’t respond to modern media, which includes modern ads. Old ads in old radio shows or old publications are more effective, as long as the product still exists.

Example: Last November I had a common cold for the first time in many decades. Google suggested chicken soup. Inspired by this 1927 ad, I altered my morning ramen to be more brothy like Printanier, and less dense and starchy. Subtracted the two slices of bread I’d been eating along with the ramen, and added some vegies to resemble Printanier:

The subtraction had an unexpected positive side effect. I had been bothered by sugar lows on long walks such as store trips. After subtracting two slices of bread from daily habit, no more sugar lows. Now I can walk at any time with no problem. This improvement has held true for six months now, so I’m pretty sure it’s not just post hoc. Seems like you should add food to avoid hunger, but intuition is wrong in this case.
