Got to do the boomer thing

Via Spokane News:

7500 East Buckeye, Reported teens climbed up on the roof of the school and now one requesting the Fire Department to help them get down.

Even if we wanted the fire department we couldn’t reach them in a tricky situation. We KNEW help wasn’t available, so we DIDN’T get into tricky situations on purpose.

From the other angle… Before cellphones people were in the habit of asking and giving small assistance. When I was out walking, drivers would ask me for directions, or ask if I had seen their lost dog. If a driver got stuck in the snow by my house, he’d come to the door and ask for help, and I’d try to push the car or rock it out of the snowdrift. Those small asks haven’t happened in the last ten years. The habit of trusting each other has atrophied.
