This was a week after the big fires, on the east side of town. Since it was in the city, the regular firefighters caught it fast and knocked it down fast.

Unlike matches, his method can’t be conflated with careless normal activity. He was lighting bottles of alcohol-based hand sanitizer and tossing them out. The same gold car with the same method was seen on the west side of town a week before the big fires but not identified or caught then.
Like Farinacci, he’s been committing SERIOUS crimes for life. He should have been in jail for life.

The big fires on Aug 1 didn’t kill anyone directly, but one nursing home patient who was probably on the way to death was speeded up by the strain of evacuation. This could lead to extra charges for Farinacci, which might keep him in jail for more than the usual few days, though I wouldn’t count on it.
Farinacci clearly started the fire directly west of town, the Old Trails fire. The Autumn Lane fire up by Suncrest is so far unattributed, but from the geography it could have been an extension of Old Trails via wind-blown embers. The much smaller Fairview fire near Mead appears to have started in a recycling center and landfill, where small fires and hot spots are common.

In the first fucking place, this summer is LESS HOT than average, not MORE HOT. I keep track of highs in my daily log. Normally by this time we’ve had three weeks of upper 90s. This year we had a blessedly abnormal stretch of 70s and only a few days of upper 90s. The plants are dry as usual because summer is always the dry season, but they’re emphatically not hotter than usual.
In the second fucking place, CO2 doesn’t start or accelerate fires, it smothers them. Fire extinguishers use CO2 or a powder that reacts and spawns CO2. The tiny excess of CO2 in the atmosphere wouldn’t make a difference either way.
