What the world needs now is NOT love, sweet or otherwise.

The real tragedy of the bitcoin/NFT/DAO crap is identical to the real tragedy of the hippie crap. Both were motivated by youthful idealism, and both ruthlessly exploited the idealism to gain more power and money for demons who were ALREADY wealthy and powerful.

The ideal of the hippies was vague and gauzy. Loving everyone and getting along? Never happened, can’t happen. Physically impossible.

The ideal of the bitcoiners is well defined and achievable. How do I know? Because it WAS achieved.

The world desperately needs a truly decentralized and MODULAR economic system. The world had ENOUGH modularity and enough decentrality from 1945 to 1975. Not perfect, but it provided USEFUL WORK AND SERVICE for men and women in the industrialized countries. It provided SUFFICIENT INCOME to support a family and have a bit of fun.

Here’s another sad waste of energy on an equally important topic. This group has diagnosed the crimes of Big Science accurately, but proposes to “solve” the problem with NFTs and DAOs.

Science is failing to meet modern-day needs because the systems that have guided serious research for millennia no longer provide all of the essential advances. Over the years, science has become a monolithic institution; an altar to which contemporary society offers its brightest and finest; an altar to which world governments lay innumerable tithes; and an altar to which humanity lays its faith in order to address and avert critical global challenges.

To avoid further capture and entrusting the world’s faith to a select few, we must decentralize these organizations and their modes of operations in order to maintain transparency and accountability.

On the fucking dot, and stated with appropriate passion.

But again we don’t need a NEW and STUPID solution. We need to revert to the pre-1946 solution, with science funded by a mix of private wealth, industries needing real answers to real questions, and crowdfunding. FIRST we need to abolish tenure and peer review.

As usual DeSantis is making a real move toward the real solution by restricting the power of tenure. This one regulation will accomplish more than all the DAOs and NFTs in the world.
